Let Me Not Be Ashamed

Unto thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Unto thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Oh my God, I trust in Thee,
Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me.

Let none that wait, on Thee be ashamed.
Let none that wait, on Thee be ashamed.
Oh my God, I trust in thee,
Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me.

Show me Thy ways, Lord teach me Thy paths.
Show me Thy ways, Lord teach me Thy paths.
Oh my God, I trust in Thee,
Let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me.

The above song was one of the few songs we sang in church this morning but this one particular song so resonated within me that my tears just flowed freely. It spoke to me especially the line "let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me". Thinking about my work situation and feeling like I'm being treated like a fool, it was so good just to be able to sing my woes to God. I didn't know how to express myself but thankfully through this song, I could. And always, after church, I always feel better about a situation I may feel sad or sore or upset about. It'll be like suddenly the clouds will disappear and things are not as bad and I can focus on the merits of the situation and not just see the gloom and doom and be despondent. I sink to the depths of being down and depressed, however, when I don't hear His Voice and talk to Him. I need my Saviour!

Hi Amrawaonnet, when I wrote that post, I was going through a difficult time and so my enemies to me at that time was my supervisor at work who made my life miserable. However, it doesn't mean when as Christians we sing that song that we believe God is then going to teach a lesson to those we think are our enemies. He is afterall God and not us. In fact, by singing that song, it is more a comfort to me that God will teach me His Way, which is the Way of Love because He is first and foremost a God of Love. He will give me the ability to love others, even our enemies.

I hope that helps to explain. If not, please feel free to let me know.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for your concern

In beginning i thought that was sort of a prayer that means " I trust in you lord , so don't let me down and don't let my enemies be happy for my sorrow "

But i was hoping that you explane the word " thee " a little more as I looked it up in my dictionary and didn't find it

hopeing your work will be a better blace for you

reagards,

Merry Christmas to you too.

Hi amrawaonnet

I like your explanation too! Cos after thinking about it abit more, I also realise that it could also mean don't let me be so obsessed with what my enemy is doing to me that I let my enemy take control of me, mind and soul, which is very similar to what you said in your post - yeah!

If you haven't found it yet, "Thee" means you.

Thank God! Shortly after that post, I moved to a different section and am happier.

Thanks for your interest and for posting. If I may enquire, how did you come across my blog?

Have a great week!

Well that's good news to be heared.

Nice to get some progress at your work, hope you can keep up the good work.

I found your blog when I googled the phraze "O' my Lord, I trust in thee" , but cuz I'm from egypt then the result may vary from what you get cuz i use regional settings in google.

One single note, I'm Muslim as I indicated earlier , so i can't celebrate the Christmas. But hope you have a nice holidays.

regards.
