Scones

I tried making scones today using a recipe book I bought which I love for all the good, yummy recipes it has.

Turned out the scones were abit hard but the inside were soft and fluffy enough. I may have cut the scone size abit too big. I didn't have a cookie cutter so I used the rim of a glass to cut out circles of dough to bake into scones. And I thought I was being innovative until Phill told me my mum-in-law does that too cos she doesn't use a cookie cutter.

Phill had his scones with apricot jam while I have mine with strawberry jam....YUM!

So proud of you my darling. You are on your way to be a great cook and many more baked goods. Phill (you ko fu le)Bracket have to be read in mandarin

One day you will be better than me. When you have the time we can exchange notes.

Very innovative of you to use the glass, as for me everything must use with proper tools, you can call me anyway you like: fussy or perfectionist.

hahaha....gary, you crack me up! It'll be my pleasure to make some for you! =O)

As for Mum, hahaha! Actually, I'm like you. I must have the exact, proper and nice baking tools before I am inspired to cook. Not that I'm a perfectionist, but am very particular. Only "bo-pian" (dialect) then I had to use the rim of the glass. Cos I was exclaiming to Phill that I didn't have a scone cutter but by that time, already made the dough, so had to find some way lor.

Anyway, Mum, remember your first attempt at icing a cake? Your frustrations and all cos you're such a perfectionist. And now, all the yummy, perfect cakes you make. Seeing you get angry at being unable to ice the cake that first time inspires me now cos to me, it taught me that we all have to start somewhere but once we make the start, we can only improve and excel! =O)

wow, you still can remember that incident. Thinking back, I thought I was such a fool that I cannot come out with a perfect iced cake. As I attend various and more baking classes I found out that the icing of the cake cover up the imperfect underneath and that reminds me why I put make-up, to cover the flaws that is coming out fast on my face and neck, the middle is not much of a job.

I think I have to get on with my choc eclairs, cos Gary asked for it and Zach had been waiting for a long time.
